Compared Magnesium Hydroxide with Aluminum Hydroxide

Both magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide are the most important inorganic flame retardants. Their common characteristics are environment friendly, filling, smoke suppression and have flame retardant function. Aluminum hydroxide is one of the earliest inorganic flame retardant in time, having the features of no corrosive gas, good stability, flame retardant effect lasting, non-toxic, etc. Otherwise, magnesium hydroxide is one of the inorganic flame retardants currently in actively research and development at home and abroad, based on the advantages of aluminum hydroxide in the above, it is better than aluminum hydroxide in smoke suppression performance and thermal stability. Heat absorption capacity of magnesium hydroxide is higher than aluminum hydroxide 17%, more beneficial to improve the flame retardant efficiency. In summary, different flame retardants have different characteristics and USES.
Compared with aluminum hydroxide, the advantages of magnesium hydroxide as follows:
1.The thermal decomposition temperature of magnesium hydroxide is 330 ℃, higher than aluminum hydroxide 100 ℃, which is more conducive to improve the processing temperature, extrusion speed, shorten the molding time.
2.Magnesium hydroxide with acid have a strong neutralizing ability, can neutralize acid gases quickly in the progress of high polymer burning, such as CO2, NOX, SO2 and so on.
3.Magnesium hydroxide has high resolution capability, helping to absorb the heat of combustion, and improve the flame retardant efficiency.
4.Magnesium hydroxide has small hardness and strong smoke suppression ability. What is more, it has weak frictional force for equipment, and helps to prolong the lifetime.
