Magnesium Oxide Used as Acid Acceptor of Fluorine Rubber

Acid acceptor is also called absorbent or acid-binding agent. It is a kind of material that can efficiently neutralize hydrogen fluoride precipitated in the process of fluorine rubber vulcanization. Acid acceptor can also increase the crosslink density of the fluorine rubber, and make cross-linked rubber good thermal stability, so it is also used as activator or heat stabilizer.    

Magnesium oxide and zinc oxide are generally used as acid acceptor. When used zinc oxide, often used with equal number of dibasic lead phosphite for water resistance rubber. However, magnesium oxide is used for rubber which has heat-resisting and no requirements for acid resistance. A mixture of active magnesium oxide and calcium hydroxide is used as acid acceptor in Viton E -60c. Then you can use the rubber of bisphenol AF and BTPPCl to make cross-linked rubber.
